To give you a complete picture of the medical education possibilities in Italy, I will briefly mention the private international medical schools in Italy.

Private medical schools that offer English medical program s are relatively new in Italy. Unlike public medical schools, the Italian government does not fund private ones, and therefore, the tuition fees are comparable to other private medical schools in Europe (around 9000+€ / year).

The private med schools hold their admission exams.

In the case of Humanitas University, the test is called the IMAT (the admission test for public universities). The only similarity with the public university MAT is in the question format. The Humanitas IMAT is held on a separate date. The results of the public and Humanitas IMATs are not interchangeable.

Here are some private international medical schools, their approximate tuition fees (as of 2019), and their admission exams:

  • Cattolica University , Rome – 7,000€-16,000€ /year for EU (20 places); 15,600€/year for non-EU (30 places). Has its entrance exam been administered worldwide?
  • Saint Camillus International University of Health and Medical Sciences , Rome: 15,000€/year. EU candidates take the admissions test in Rome; non-EU candidates take the UCAT .
  • Humanitas University , Rozzano (near Milan) – 20,000€/year
  • San Raffaele University , Segrate (near Milan) – 20,000€/year. Has its own admissions test, held worldwide.
